What Is Heritage High Number Baseball?

2024 Topps Heritage High Number Baseball Hobby Box

The Topps Heritage High Number baseball is in continuation to the Topps Heritage Baseball. The high-number sets are supposed to feature subsets of the cards from the primary set released later in the production run and are typically high numbered.

The set has the same configuration as the Topps Heritage Baseball—offering collectors one autograph or memorabilia in a hobby box—but more guaranteed cards in terms of chrome and parallels.

Top loaders from the Topps Heritage baseball are missing, however.

The 2024 Topps Heritage High Number Baseball Overview

As described earlier, the base set will provide additional support to the already released 2024 Topps Heritage Baseball. The High Number checklist will feature 200 new veterans and rookies (#500-700). There is a clear mention of 25 short print additions to the set ranging from #701 to 725.

The card design is all inspired by the 1975 Topps Baseball.

The parallels in the 2024 Topps Heritage High Number have something extra than the regular set, which is its new set of parallels. It includes:

  • Aqua Border (2 per hobby and 1 per value box) NEW!
  • Dark Blue Border — 4 per box (Hobby-Exclusive) NEW!
  • Green Border — 1 per box (Value-Box-Exclusive) NEW!
  • Black Border — limited to 50 prints (Hobby-Exclusive)
  • Flip Stock – limited to 5 prints (Hobby-Exclusive)

What is significantly NEW! as well is the additional 625 cards based on chrome tech featured in the Chrome Base Variations set. Additionally, each card is numbered to #699. Other Versions include:

  • Black Bordered—#’d/75 (Hobby-Exclusive)
  • Gold Bordered—#’d/5
  • Superfractor—1/1

Variations are a prominent part of a set these days. They not only are a quirky affair to collectors but also add depth to the set. The Heritage baseball is no different with its variations: Missing Signatures, Images in Black and White and overall Image variation along with variation in the Base Cards.

The set is centered around cards of Rookie Players undergone a call-up or are traded in the last baseball season. For collectors, this means a chance to collect future prospects early on, or first cards of players from their traded teams.

Autographs and Relics: The Biggest Hits

The “Real One” is the primary source of ink in the 2024 Topps Heritage High Number.

Firstly, the in-season call-ups along with rookies, veterans, and players from the 1975 season have come up with their “Real One Autographs.” Other Numbered Auto Cards also fall under the name “Real One” such as Real One Special Edition Autographs done in red ink (#’d/75). Than there is the Real One Reverse Autographs probably, reverting the classic 1975 design to a new approach.

All the Relics come under the “Clubhouse” umbrella name. For Jersey and Bat relics, we have Clubhouse Collection Relics reserved with current veterans and rookies of the game.

Another variant to it is the Dual, Triple and Quadruple relics feature in one card. Each of these is hand-numbered and mentions important details, such as game-used, about the memorabilia.

Finally, covering the autograph relic is the Clubhouse collection Autograph relics.

Topps has also decided to finish the remaining cards from the 2024 Topps Heritage Mini Baseball that are 225 in number. That is called the 1975 Minis, New! to this set.

In addition, there is an homage to 1975 Retires! that highlights important events throughout their celebrated career. Harmon Killebrew, Bob Gibson, and Juan Marichal are three Hall of Famers featured in it.

2024 Topps Heritage High Number Baseball The Fred Lynn Files
The Fred Lynn Files

One of the most remarkable achievements in baseball history took place during the 1975 season, when Fred Lynn, as a rookie outfielder for the Boston Red Sox, not only lived up to expectations—he shattered Cincinnati Reds, becoming the first player ever to win both the Rookie of the Year and the Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards in the same season. This achievement is celebrated in the set The Fred Lynn Files.

Perfectly programmed is a representation of the infusion of technology in 1975 as the saw success of the first commercially launched PC. The card set has players in a programmed theme from both the past and present.

Other classics of the set inserts include Rookie performers, Now and Then, combo cards, and Award Winners. Moreover, teammates camaraderie can be seen in the 1975 Topps Team Quads.
